This Saturday Oxfolk Ceilidhs in Kennington, Oxfordshire's premier ceilidh club (a night club for folkies features a fantastic trio with local connections. Cat Kelly, Director of Folk Weekend Oxford and Oxford-based choir Rising Voices, also plays fiddle with Triptych. She is joined by Pete Ord on guitar, who is currently working at Mabel Prichard School in Oxford, and Oli Matthews on sax and melodeon. The trio played one of their first gigs at Folk Weekend Oxford in 2012 and have gone to receive critical acclaim since.
All the dances will be explained by caller Phil Bassindale in his usual dynamic and charming way. If you have never been to a barn dance or ceilidh before this is the evening to give it a try, as in Phil's hands you are sure dance your socks off! To top things off, the splendid and quite unforgettable Fool’s Gambit Morris is doing the half-time entertainment spot. Be amazed as they prove how athletic and exciting morris dancing can be when performed by a group of people in their teens and early 20s.
